The Zululand Observer is looking for a Sport Journalist.

Requirements:

  • A degree or diploma in journalism will be to your advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Must have good photography skills
  • Must have a good knowledge and understanding of all codes of sport
  • Computer literate
  • Candidate must be willing to relocate to Richards Bay/Empangeni
  • Successful candidate will be required to work at our offices in Empangeni
  • Must be willing to work weekends and overtime
  • A solid understanding of deadlines and an ability to work well under pressure are essential
  • A valid driver’s licence and own roadworthy transport are compulsory
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team
  • Must be techno savvy and proficient with all social media platforms
  • Will be required to write for both online and printed editions
Experience in a newsroom is an advantage
