Flash flooding in southwest France claims 13 lives
The region last saw floods of this magnitude more than 100 years ago, with one area reporting floodwater rising to 7 metres.

After a bout of heavy rainfall and flash floods, the River Aude in southwest France has claimed 13 lives.

Emergency services have urged residents to stay inside their homes. A red alert has also been issued by local authorities.
