A total of 186 suspects have been arrested for various offences during a continuous intelligence-led police operation conducted in the Vaalwater, Modimolle, Seshego, Makhado and Musina areas in Limpopo, Bosveld Review reports.
Provincial police commissioner Lt-General Nneke Ledwaba personally led the Vaalwater team during Operation Fiela II.
The operation, which was concluded in the early hours of this morning, targeted ‘crime infested areas’ through various methods including road blocks, stop and searches, patrols, tracing of wanted suspects, etc.,” reported police spokesperson, Lt-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

The suspects (aged between 23 and 49) were arrested for various offences ranging from murder, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, illegal immigration, burglary, rape, theft, attempted murder, armed robbery and business robbery to possession of suspected stolen properties, dealing in dagga, possession of dagga and dagga plants, possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles.
In the Musina Policing area, a 48-year-old man was arrested for unlawful possession of explosives at the Beitbridge Port of Entry during the stop and search operation. 281 detonators were confiscated from a bus which was travelling from Zimbabwe to South Africa.
All the arrested suspects during these operations have already started appearing before different Magistrates’ Courts throughout the province.
