South Africans probably set their alarm for 9am on Tuesday to be first in line for the R5 FlySafair ticket. While some have been lucky, some have unfortunately been hit with an error message.
The airline had earlier advised its customers to keep refreshing the page until they finally got what they’re looking for, but now it said it had decided to pause the sale to give everyone a chance to book the ticket.
“While there are over 25,000 people in the waiting room, we are experiencing an issue with one of our servers. To keep this fair we’re going to pause the sale until that server is sorted so everyone gets a fair shot. Unlucky customers who hit the wrong server are getting an error,” said FlySafair.
However, the airline announced that the sale was back on after it managed to fix its servers.
Another way to win a ticket is through a competition in which you post a video of yourself dancing on social media, with the hashtag #JiveFor5. The winner will be announced at 5pm.
The airline announced on Monday that it would be selling 45,000 tickets on flights departing up until the end of September for just R5.
