Thursday blackjack returns to Emerald Resort and Casino

Blackjack, or 21 as it is sometimes known, is limited to just 21 players in its trendy tournament format. With a buy-in of R300 or 3 000 Emerald Rewards points, 100% of the buy-in goes into the prize pool which means that up to R10 000 can be won.

“Due to popular demand we have re-introduced this tournament on every third Thursday of the month. Buy-ins take place at 7pm on tournament evenings,” says Sharon de Leur, marketing executive at the casino.

There is no blueprint to tournament blackjack strategy. but the obvious objective is to beat the other players. The primary weapon is the size of the bet which starts conservatively and then increases to gain position on the leaders or to reduce bets to protect a leading position.
