Men Without Hats to play at Mieliepop 2013

To round out the line-up of South African acts, Mieliepop has announced the inclusion of Men Without Hats as the headline act for the 2013 event.

80s music fans will remember this quirky and innovative band and their hits, ‘Safety Dance’ and ‘Pop Goes the World’. Their high-energy show features all these favourites, as well as material from their 2012 album, ‘Love in the Age of War’.

Mieliepop set out to create a festival with a unique approach – a boutique festival with a difference.

“We really create a relaxed festival environment where there are no queues, clean ablutions for all and an environment where music lovers can really just kick-back, relax and enjoy some of the best music in South Africa,” explain the organisers.

And by all accounts they have succeeded.

“Many describe the festival as the perfect size, ‘not crowded enough to be annoying and yet just big enough to enjoy.'”

Maryke Smit of the Highvelder newspaper, elaborates, “Local music lovers should not miss out on the opportunity to experience a brilliant music and festival experience on their doorstep.”

The 2013 edition of Mieliepop Festival includes, among other performers, Albert Frost, Shawn Phillips, Crystal Park, Naming James, Kinky Robot, G Force, Valiant Swart, Riders From The Storm, Radio Kalahari Orkes, Nakhane Toure, and Jonny Guy.

Mieliepop 2013 takes place from Friday, 1 to Monday, 4 November at Tolderia Resort in Mpumalanga. Tickets start from R550 per person for a full weekend pass or R350 for a day pass.
