The Kamers market slogan captures the heart of what it’s about: “South Africa’s pop-up treasure trove of handcrafted creativity.”
It’s exactly that – a treasure trove, and just in time for the festive season. Started in 2003 by a group of close friends who vacated their home, invited creatives have the platform to showcase their work. From day one, the event was a success. Growing in reputation and numbers over the years, organisers were forced to move to bigger and better locations and today the group has pop-up markets in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Bloemfontein.
The organisers’ aim is to break new ground by sourcing creative talent and fresh product ideas that are exclusive, creative and retail focused, while offering a nurturing environment and safe space for small businesses. Things are not perfectly made or mass produced. It’s about high-end craft: slightly imperfect, timeless and originally designed.
This year welcomes 220 traders offering a delightful array of fashion, accessories, crafts, home-styles, kids’ stuff and delicious food and wine.
