Here’s what’s happening in Cape Town, Durban this long weekend

Get up and go outside and discover what the last days of summer can offer.


Cape Town is the land of leisure so there’s no way you can say you are staying glued to your couch this long weekend. Here are some of the exciting this you get up to besides going to the beach, going to Long Street or taking a drive around the scenic routes. The lockdown is not over yet so don’t forget to wear a mask, sanitise and keep a social distance. And no matter how carried away you get, remember that come midnight, it’s curfew.

  • Habitat

Venture out to Colorbox Studios on Saturday for another special edition of HABITAT. The line-up boasts of Toby2shoes, Paradise Citizens, Ryan Hill, Geometric Flux and Mike Wallis so put on your dancing shoes and head out there.

  • Silent Sunset Disco- The return

Head out to Clifton 3rd Beach on Saturday for another instalment of the long-awaited return of the Sunset Silent Disco. There isn’t a better way to party than in the outdoors – it is the safest way in this pandemic and oh you get to breathe in the fresh sea air. The event starts at 4.30pm and concludes at 7.30pm. The entry fee is R150 for adults and  R80 for kids.

  • Galileo Drive-in

Covid-19 has disrupted how we do things. While we thought drive-ins were a thing of the past, they are the hottest thing right now. At Galileo Drive-in, you can enjoy a host of movies plus pair it with movie food from the comfort of your car. On the line-up is The Greatest Showman on Saturday and Crazy, Stupid Love on Sunday at Meridian Pinehurst in Durbanville.

  • Cocktail Cruise

  • Southern Rock Classics

KwaZulu-Natal music group In The Flesh is staging a tribute show celebrating the classic rock of the American south at Rhumbelow Theatre in Northlands.
The show consists of faithful, energetic renditions of much-loved songs by southern greats such as CCR, Grand Funk Railroad, The Black Crowes, John Cougar Mellencamp, Tom Petty, ZZ Top and The Allman Brothers.

  • Le Petit Chef in The Footsteps of Marco Polo

Hosted at the Beverley Hills Hotel Plantation room, thisis a two and a half hour dining show that tells the story of how the world’s smallest chef follows the route of Marco Polo. The show’s six-course menu takes guest along a culinary journey across the regions visited by the legendary traveller. The unparalleled 3D show is complemented by a unique gastronomic experience full of fun and surprises,” the description to entice revellers reads.
