Justin Bieber’s influence is still being felt in Iceland from his visit there in 2015 and it’s not all good. Bieber famously shot his music video for I’ll Show You in a little-known canyon in southeast Iceland.
The video has subsequently amassed 440 million views on Youtube and four years later the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon has now closed all public paths to the area after it became clear that the increased foot traffic from Bieber fans was destroying its fragile vegetation.
The number of visitors to the canyon increased from 150,000 to 282,000 between 2017 and 2018 and Daníel Freyr Jónsson from the Environment Agency of Iceland explained that he believed this was directly related to Bieber’s music video.
