The Bhairavi Sungum of Springs held its 28th Sarasvathee Celebrations on Sunday. They celebrated their heritage and honoured the community and resilience that brings them together.
It was the first Sarasvathee Celebration since 2019 because of challenges, but they are restoring the Sungum and its membership.
The Sarasvathee Celebrations enjoyed a busy programme, with an opening prayer followed by the universal lamp that was lit by representatives.
It is symbolic and always done at such cultural events.
Various dances were held and the guest speaker, Dr Sivakumarie Reddhi, shared a powerful message before a few cultural and language performances and delicious food.
Chairlady Poovershree Pillay paid tribute to the loss of their beloved teacher, Sarnam Naicker who departed early this year at the age of 88.

The South African Hindu Maha Sabha is passionate about its religion and plans many more successful Sarasvathee Celebrations in the future.
