For most golfers, the most intimidating sight on a course is a par five with two bunkers.

But at the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto, Florida in the US, it’s literally a monstrosity – Chubbs, the alligator.

A man playing a round last weekend spotted the imposing reptile, which is estimated to be a massive 15 feet in length.

That’s over 4.5 metres!

It’s not the first time Chubbs has graced the club with his presence – he was first sighted in 2016.

Course manager Ken Powell had previously said that the reptile is “not a nuisance. He doesn’t hurt anybody”.

Alligators differ from crocodiles in terms of size, colour and snout.

Chubbs is considered an above average size for an alligator, which usually is measured at around 13 feet (or 4 metres).
