US wants more of Mchunu
It's been nearly three months since Thabiso Mchunu impressed the boxing world with a victory over Eddie Chambers in what was his first foray into the United States market.

It’s a market that has proved to be tough to crack in the past but such was “The Rock’s” showing against the highly-rated Eddie Chambers that he has secured a promotional deal with the famed Main Events, headed by doyenne Kathy Duva, which means America will see more of the rising cruiserweight star.
The three-year deal will see Mchunu kept busy as the path to a tilt at world title glory is paved and his first date beckons on January 24 next year against an opponent who has yet to be named.
“Mchunu’s absolute domination of Eddie Chambers in August was a revelation,” Duva was quoted as saying on her company’s website this week.
“As a massive underdog fighting a very accomplished opponent in Chambers, Mchunu made the very most of his opportunity and made a resounding statement. He is the kind of fighter who can alter the landscape in the bigger weight classes for years to come.”
“It’s been unbelievable to link up with someone like Kathy Duva especially for what she’s done for boxing. It’s a gateway for Showpony Promotions to be working with some of the biggest names in boxing,” promoter Damian
Michael said yesterday before adding that he believed Mchunu was on a collision course for stardom in the coming months. “The main thing for Thabiso was to show America that he’s just getting started by beating Chambers. I don’t believe he can win a world title. I believe he is capable of winning all of them,” he added.
“We’re really happy to have penned this deal. I really think he’ll draw an interest in the States,” Michael said of the contract that will see Mchunu fight three times a year.
