Swimmers complete 459km in 24 days

The two swam from Mozambique to Madagascar.

“This is an incredible feat and by no means ordinary,” they said in a statement.

In one day Williams and Proudfoot swam the same distance as the English Channel.

“[They swam] battling jelly fish stings, swimming with sharks and whales, and being detained by French military on a French island after some confusion.”

This was the first time anyone had attempted or completed this distance across the Mozambican Channel.

According to Epic Communications officials may recognise the swim as the longest unassisted open water stage swim ever completed in the world. This would be once all data had been reviewed, it said.
