Stage set forthrilling bout

The two will step into the fray once more when they headline the “Prizefighter at Presleys” bill tonight but this time around both parties are keen to emerge as an outright winner instead of having to share the spoils.

The bill, put together by Real Steel Promotions and World Boxing Entertainment, was meant to feature the Gauteng cruiserweight title between Deon Coetzee and Fikile Nyalunga, but the former pulled out, forcing the card to be shuffled.

“After that fight people weren’t sure who the winner was. It was very close. But this time we need to make it clear,” Transvaal said ahead of tonight’s eight-round contest in the featherweight division. “I want to establish my business and I need this win. I’ll be the ‘Slow Poison’ to the Prince,” he added, referring to the nickname he’s earned in his 14-fight career.

Ndlovu, who brings a 7-1-2 record into tonight, isn’t expected to give his opponent any favours and his confidence level was just as high heading into the bout.

“I hate to break it to him, but this is not a charity. This is a one-way ticket. No return. He’s just in the way of something I want,” said Ndlovu, referring to his aspirations of challenging for the national title sometime next year.

In other clashes on the night, promising middleweight Alfonso Tissen takes on Mthiyane Fulathla over six rounds, while Chas Pieter and Edwin Kose Thaba meet in a welterweight bout set for four rounds.
