More KG drama as Philander claims Twitter account was hacked

The experienced Proteas seamer had claimed in a post that Aussie skipper Steve Smith was 'just as guilty' but says he didn't write that.

The fallout from Kagiso Rabada’s two-match suspension continued on Thursday morning after Vernon Philander claimed his Twitter account was “hacked” following a post where he accused Australian skipper Steve Smith of intentionally making contact with the Proteas fast bowler.

The 22-year-old was earlier this week handed the sentence by the International Cricket Council (ICC) but Cricket South Africa indicated on Wednesday that they would be appealing the sentence.

In the Twitter post, which has been deleted, Philander “claimed” Smith had “given Rabada the shoulder” and was “just as guilty”.

But the stocky, experienced seamer was quick to state that he was the victim of hackers.

“Waking up this morning to alot of twitter craziness as my acc got hacked and someone posted a nice little article on my behalf,” Philander wrote.

“Sorry for all the drama or entertainment caused by the looks of it. Have a great day all.”
