LISTEN: Gary Kirsten on why the Proteas need Ottis Gibson

The former national coach was on the panel that recommended the West Indian for the job and gives his thoughts on the need for foreign input.


Ottis Gibson arrives in South Africa on Monday and will hold his first media conference as the new Proteas coach on Tuesday morning.

There are, naturally, a lot of expectations with the World Cup in 2019 looming.

However, in anticipation of the former West Indian fast bowler’s arrival, Short Fine Legs – South Africa’s only cricket podcast – spoke to former Proteas coach Gary Kirsten on his appointment.

And it’s appropriate as Kirsten was on the Cricket South Africa panel that recommended Gibson for the post.
