Amakhosi have been linked with midfielder Anthony Akumu who recently left Zambian side Zesco United as a free agent.
Middendorp has not ruled out the possibility of Chiefs adding new players.
“We said it before scouting, recruiting is like shaving – you have to do it at least every second day,” said Middendorp.
“When starting a season and you see what is working and what is not working. September, you continue and look in the market you know exactly which player will go in July and get a South African ID, you are aware which contracts are coming to end, is there an option inside the contract to extend.
“Like with this player who goes to Cape Town City, everyone was jubilant he is a free player but he isn’t [when] there [were] two years on his contract. Meaning you [are] always looking. It is not all of a sudden it’s the transfer window and you sign.
“There is no contract signed with the player from Zesco United. At the moment, I want to leave it.”
