With a Nedbank Cup quarterfinal against Orlando Pirates on the horizon in April, Sundowns are also set for the Caf Champions League quarterfinals, and are very much in pole position to win a fourth DStv Premiership crown on the spin.
In this week’s episode of Phakaaathi TV, editor Jonty Mark and Sundowns writer Michaelson Gumede discuss all things Masandawana, after the side had success in two competitions already this week, beating TP Mazembe in the Caf Champions League quarterfinals, and then hammering Polokwane City 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup last 16.
It is hard to see Stellenbosch FC standing in the way of the Sundowns tank, pretty much rolling over everything in it’s path this campaign.
Pitso Mosimane’s departure was expected to cause some disruption at Sundowns, while the choice of Rulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi as co-head coaches, with Steve Komphela also roped in as a ‘senior’ coach, was questioned in many quarters, with the phrase ‘too many cooks’ certainly coming up.
But the trio have been very effective thus far, with Sundowns on a long unbeaten run and looking far and away the best side in the land yet again.
