Former Bayern Munich midfielder was unveiled as a new signing for MSL side Chicago Fire. A reporter asked the 32-year-old if winning the World Cup goal for Chicago Fire was a realistic expectation.
A confused Schweinsteiger is seen in the video below asking a club official to explain the question so he could answer. The German international laughed off the reporter’s blunder before a club official interrupted the rephrasing of the question to focus on the MLS Cup.
“It was not so easy because the decision was a bit late, so I couldn’t say a proper goodbye to the team,” said Schweinsteiger at his first press conference.
“Also they had a match away against – I can’t remember – but they had a match on Sunday, so I couldn’t really tell them because I didn’t want the focus on me, I wanted to have the focus on the team and the game. So I was very happy that they won.”
