Al Ahly legend Ahmed Shobeir has revealed the reasons why the contract extension talks between Pitso Mosimane and the club have reached a deadlock.

Speaking to the Egyptian website, Kingfut, Shobeir claimed the leaks to the media and the Super Cup fine that was issued following Tala’a El-Gaish defeat were the reasons why the negotiations are not going so well.
“Al Ahly didn’t appreciate leaked information in the South African media about the contract extension, so Mosimane’s requests were leaked as well,” Shobier is quoted as saying.
“Mosimane’s agent was the one who pushed for a contract extension, her requests were increasing salary, she also asked for full-year payment in case of dismissal. Al Ahly refused both requests.
“However, Al Ahly are willing to extend the contract but with penalty clause being three months, not a full year, but there is no rush.”
Meanwhile, as reported earlier, reports emerging from Portugal are that Al Ahly are looking to bring former Zamalek coach Jesualdo Ferreira back to Egypt should Mosimane decides to leave the club.
With talks between Mosimane and the African champions said to have reached a deadlock over a new contract, word is that Mosimane will leave Al Ahly this week.
Now, Portuguese website, FLASH, reports that Ferreira could replace Mosimane as Al Ahly head coach should the former Bafana Bafana coach decides to vacate his position.
The website further reported that Ferreira’s wife, in conversation with CMTV, said the former Zamalek coach has agreed in principle to join the Red Devils. The wife, however, could not confirm Ferreira’s next destination.
Ferreira won the Egyptian Premier League and the Egyptian Cup in his only one season with Zamalek. He left Zamalek before the contract’s expiration date after a fall out with then club chairman Mortada Mansour.
The 75-year-old is currently without a club after leaving Portuguese side Boavista in June. Prior to that he had stints with Al Sadd of Qatar and Brazil’s Santos
