The footballing steam train that is Bayern Munich has been gathering pace in recent weeks. Niko Kovac may have got off to a wobbly start as the new boss of the German champions however, with the team enjoying a seven match unbeaten run, there is little to complain about.
While narrow victories over Augsburg and Hertha Berlin have caused concerns, Bayern’s latest two wins have seen them go top of the Bundesliga – above Borussia Dortmund on goal difference.
That’s not much of a surprise when you remember that Bayern have scored 11 goals in their last two games. These came in their 5-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach and 6-0 thrashing of Wolfsburg. What’s more impressive is the fact that both of these sides are serious top four contenders.
Liverpool, meanwhile, seemed to have bounced back from a small crisis of their own. Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League title challenge suffered a blow when his side could only manage three wins from seven games.
The Reds came back strong with a 5-0 win over Watford and more recently, a 4-2 victory over Burnley.
