There was still a match to go in Gameweek 22 of the Fantasy Premier League at the time of writing, with Manchester City hosting Wolves last night, and plenty of points up for grabs. Leading the way for January in Phakaaathi’s Private Fantasy League ahead of that game, however, was Wade Twynham and his team AJz, who racked up 81 points for Gameweek 22, and still had City’s Sergio Aguero in their squad for the clash with Wolves. AJz benefited from captaining Mohamed Salah, whose feat in winning and converting a penalty against Brighton saw him garner 11 points, doubled up to 22 as captain. Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson also racked up points at the back for AJz, as Liverpool picked up yet another clean sheet. Neither Robertson or Digne were the top-scoring defender for AJz, however – that was Lucas Digne (above) from the other side of the Mersey, who got 12 points for an assist and clean sheet as Everton won 2-0 at home to Bournemouth. Twynham’s total for January sat at 143 points as of yesterday, a total matched by Ebrahim Essay and Essay’s XI. Essay’s XI also had Salah as captain, and included Digne, along with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, part of the Reds’ clean sheet and Marcus Rashford, who scored the winning goal for Manchester United at Tottenham. Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva was also in the side with the potential of adding to their tally last night.
