A revitalised United, following the departure of Jose Mourinho and appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, are no doubt having more and more stars snapped up by FPL players, including those competing in the Phakaaathi Private Fantasy League competition for January. The prize for the winner of January’s competition is a Canon Powershot SX730 HS camera valued at R4 999. We take a look at four players that those with there eyes on the camera might look to get into their squads.

Goalkeeper Neil Etheridge (£4.6 million) Remarkably for a keeper who has only kept five clean sheets in 21 matches this season, Cardiff City’s Etheridge is the second top points scoring goalkeeper in the FPL this season. Etheridge’s tally has been helped by the three penalties he has kept out this season, and by a decent amount of bonus points. When Cardiff have kept a clean sheet, he has tended to be their best player, making a number of key saves. At his price, he is definitely worth bringing in, even as a back up to a bigger name.

Defender Ricardo Pereira (£5.3 million) Leicester are having a very inconsistent season under Claude Puel, but Ricardo Pereira has certainly been a bright spot, representing a real attacking threat from defence, an important aspect of picking a defender in the FPL. Pereira’s quality was epitomised in the run that helped set up the winner against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and in the amazing winner his smacked in against Manchester City. He has 92 points already in FPL this season and is easily the cheapest defender among the top six defensive points scorers.

Midfielder Paul Pogba (£8.4 million) Pogba (above) has been played in a more advanced role by Solskjaer since he took over at United and it is paying dividends, the talented Frenchman bagging plenty of goals and assists since the shackles have seemingly come off. In pure FPL terms, Pogba racked up 46 of his 100 points so far in the FPL between gameweeks 18 and 20, with Jose Mourinho out of the club. He was an injury doubt for the game against Tottenham this weekend, but if he does play, he will likely be key to United upsetting Spurs.

Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.4 million) Affordability means is probably a case of one of the three, as FPL managers deliberate between who to have in their squad out of Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Aubameyang. Well, Aubameyang currently sits on top of the tree in terms of FPL strikers with 132 points, and if he leads Kane by only two points, he will save you £1.2 million to spend elsewhere.
