Ex-Pirates star shines in France

Zimbabwean international Marshall Munetsi’s star has continued to rise in France.

Two seasons after he joined Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims from Orlando Pirates, Munetsi has featured consistently for the club and is now rated as one of the best midfielders in the French league.

Renowned French publication L Equipe listed him as one of the best eleven players in the league from matchday 29 with a rating of 8 out of 10.

Munetsi played a key role in Pirates playing in midfield and sometimes in defence helping the side keep clean sheets and win matches, the Zimbabwean international has continued where he left off in France playing consistently.

The Warriors star made the Ligue 1 starting XI list after playing in his side’s 1-1 draw with Olympique Lyon over the weekend making 62 touches in the game and winning 12 duels in the game, intercepting the opposition’s moves to trouble his side.

The midfielder was called-up for the Zimbabwe squad for the Afcon qualification games against Zambia and Botswana in March.
