Burnley targeting top four place

The Clarets have won five of their last seven games, including a 1-0 home success over Watford on Saturday, with their defensive record particularly impressive having conceded just 12 goals in 16 league games.

Burnley also have a good recent record against their opponents, with the hosts unbeaten in three Premier League home games against Stoke – a 1-0 victory last term was sealed by a George Boyd goal.

Sean Dyche is boosted by the news that Ben Mee could return to the matchday squad, having missed the win over the Hornets with a cut to his knee. Fellow defender Matt Lowton is expected to be sidelined for a fourth game in a row.

In contrast to their opponents, Stoke have won just one of their last six games and have slipped to 15th, just three points outside the relegation zone.

The Potters, who have their lowest tally at this stage of a Premier League season, have conceded the most goals in the division after leaking 35 to date following Saturday’s 5-1 defeat at Tottenham.

On-loan forward Jese is still absent on compassionate leave, while Glen Johnson is sidelined with a knee injury. USA international Geoff Cameron could be handed a start having made his return as a substitute at Wembley after six weeks out.
