With talks between Mosimane and the African champions said to have reached a deadlock over a new contract, word is that Mosimane will leave Al Ahly this week.
Now, Portuguese website, FLASH, reports that Ferreira could replace Mosimane as Al Ahly head coach should the former Bafana Bafana coach decides to vacate his position.
The website further reported that Ferreira’s wife, in conversation with CMTV, said the former Zamalek coach has agreed in principle to join the Red Devils. The wife, however, could not confirm Ferreira’s next destination.
Ferreira won the Egyptian Premier League and the Egyptian Cup in his only one season with Zamalek. He left Zamalek before the contract’s expiration date after a fall out with then club chairman Mortada Mansour.
The 75-year-old is currently without a club after leaving Portuguese side Boavista in June. Prior to that he had stints with Al Sadd of Qatar and Brazil’s Santos.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are said to be monitoring Mosimane’s situation at Al Ahly and could try to bring him back to South Africa to fill the vacant head coach position at the club. The post was left vacant after Josef Zinnbauer left the club.
