Bruce Bvuma is expected to start in goals in the absence of Akpeyi and Siyabonga Ngezana is likely to partner Daniel Cardoso at centre back.
Chiefs and Maritzburg are set to meet at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, November 24.
Meanwhile, Chiefs star Lebogang Manyama has been called up to the Bafana Bafana squad for the Afcon qualifiers against Gabon and Sudan.
Manyama replaces injured Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane.
Bafana will face Ghana away on Thursday before returning home to host Sudan at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.
