Here are the three things you need to know about the German coach:

A former football player turned coach

Zinnbauer began his playing career at FV Wendelstein in the 1989/90 season and was forced to end his active career at the age of 26 because of cartilage damage. He was playing for Henger SV at the time. He then began coaching.

Reserve team coach

Zinnbauer did most of his coaching in the reserve leagues, but did lead Hamburg during the 2014/15 season. Hamburg narrowly avoided relegation through relegation/promotion playoffs under his tenure, having finished the season in the lowly 16th position.

Still hunting for first trophy

A bit of a worrying factor for Pirates fans is that Zinnbauer is yet to lift a trophy as a head coach of a senior team. His last job as a head coach was with Swedish side FC St. Gallen between on September 15, 2015 and May 2017.
