TBT: Sydney Moshikaro

In this week’s instalment of Throwback Thursday, former Kaizer Chiefs and Dynamos striker Sydney Moshikaro recalls the time he refused to move to Amakhosi from Ria Stars.

“I went to the Ria Stars training like I usually did and then I get called into the office. This was before the new season starts,” Moshikaro told Phakaaathi.

“I thought it was a casual chat because Chicco used to ask to see players sometimes to know if they were okay and happy.

“I get to the office and it’s just the managers and they congratulate me that Chiefs wants me to come and join them tomorrow and that they already have someone waiting to pick me up when I get to Joburg but I didn’t understand. I refused to go because I didn’t know what the deal was, I didn’t know how much I was sold for, so I refused to go.

“Ria Stars went back to Chiefs and told them that I wanted to stay for one more season on loan. During that season we spoke and everything was explained to me and I was paid. At the end of the season I joined Chiefs. They welcomed me and I had a wonderful time with Amakhosi.”
