TBT: Lifa Gqosha
In this week’s instalment of Throwback Thursday, former Kaizer Chiefs and Dynamos defender Lifa Gqosha took Phaaakthi back to a game when Dynamos coach Jacob Sakala cheered for Ajax Cape Town winger Mkhanyiseli Siwahla because one of his defenders didn’t follow his instructions.

“We were playing a night game in Cape Town against Ajax Cape Town towards the end of my career,” Gqosha told Phakaaathi.
“(Mkhanyiseli) Siwahla was playing for Ajax and he was very young at the time, he was about 17 and it was his first season in the Absa Premiership. Our right back Iron Mtiwane was given the instruction to stay tight to Siwahla because he was quick.
“Iron didn’t listen and kept backtracking not closing Siwahla down until Sakala gave up and went to sit on the bench. Siwahla got the ball and went straight to Iron and he fell as Siwahla was stepping over the ball.
“Sakala got up and celebrated when Iron fell and he started cheering for Siwahla to keep taking on Iron because he didn’t follow his instructions.”
