Japhta made waves in the South African top flight with Stars, which saw the Buccaneers poaching the midfielder under former coach Muhsin Ertugral.
According to a source close to the player, the midfielder tends to look back at his career and wishes he could have done things differently and could have ended up overseas.
“Things looked very good for him, but at the moment, it’s just not working out. And for that reason, he still regrets the day he went to Pirates. He could have gone to another team but you know everyone wants to play for the big teams. He believes he could have been very far with his career had it not been the decision to join Pirates so soon.
“He was 25-years and didn’t have much experience playing in the top league. He really saw himself playing overseas, but looking at his age and the way things are going, his dream is unlikely to materialise,” said the source.
