Rayners explains goal celebration against Pirates

Stellenbosch FC striker Iqraam Rayners says his celebration during the clash against Orlando Pirates was not meant to disrespect the Buccaneers.

Rayners scored the only goal of the match in the 1-0 win over Pirates at the Cape Town Stadium last Saturday.

After scoring the goal, Rayners ran towards the Pirates fans with the skull and bones sign in the air and threw his hands as if to show that the bones have been broken.

The Stellies striker says he did not mean to disrespect Pirates with the celebration, but was happy that his team did not lose to Bucs.

“When we came out on to the field before the game the Pirates fans were on us,” Rayners told SuperSportTV.

“They kept talking and they were saying stuff and they were on us before the game started, so when I scored I wanted to show them we did it and we didn’t lose so I am happy.”
