When Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele heard he had made the starting line-up for last Sunday Nedbank Cup match against Golden Arrows, he told one of the technical team members they had made a mistake by playing him.

This was revealed by Amakhosi coach Steve Komphela after the 3-0 win over Abafana Bes’thende.
“Rama is doing very well. He told one of the stuff members that ‘you coaches have just committed the worst mistake of your life’. I was left wondering what he means and he said ‘playing me is a mistake because I will not get out of the team again.’
“Now that is the commitment you want. That is a player who commits to the course. Now the challenge is how do you react as a coach? You have to do justice because you know the man is committed to serving this brand,” said Komphela.
