R3-million demand stalls Baxter’s Bafana move

SuperSport are said to be demanding a compensation from Safa to allow Stuart Baxter to break his contract and join Bafana.

A R3-million compensation demanded by SuperSport United for coach Stuart Baxter’s services is reportedly proving a stumbling block to take over the Bafana Bafana coaching role.

According to TAB SPORTS Express, Matsatsantsa are insisting they get compensation from Safa if the coach is to be allowed to leave the club before the end of his contract.

A fortnight ago, Safa president Danny Jordaan confirmed that they finally have their man.

Jordaan would not mention Baxter by name, but told Phakaaathi: “We have our coach, it is finalised.”

The Safa president added that all that is left is to call a press conference to announce the new man, but that is being delayed because Safa CEO Dennis Mumble is at the CCMA, for the continuation of Shakes Mashaba’s hearing for wrongful dismissal.

But the latest news is that Baxter has not signed the new Bafana contract yet because Safa have been caught off-guard by SuperSport’s R3-million demand for the Scotsman services.
