Pitso takes another veiled dig at Chiefs

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane’s side were awarded a penalty in their 3-1 win over Stellenbosch FC but in hindsight, referee Khulasande Qongqo got it wrong, as Themba Zwane was not touched by Mogamad De Goede when he went down in the box.

Mosimane said he had been waiting for his turn to benefit from referee errors like other teams in the Absa Premiership, particularity Sundowns rivals and log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

Mosimane was happy that his team finally “benefited” from the man in the middle.

“If we benefited then why not, it is about time. I shrugged my shoulder,” said Mosimane, who went on to reveal that he would not mind beating Maritzburg United in the Telkom Knockout final this Saturday from an illegitimate goal.

“I even want an offside on Saturday and I will lift the trophy gladly, no problem, it is the way it is at this point I will take it. If I benefited (against Stellenbosch) you can minus and stay on 2-1,” said “Jingles”.

The three points saw Downs close the gap on Amakhosi and Mosimane admitted that their 3-1 victory over Stellies was not a true reflection of the game, but he will take the two-goal cushion any day.

“The game in Moses Mabhida (between Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic), did it look like a 5-goal game? Who cares, so I will take the three goals also. Who cares if we played well or not? The score is 3-1. It is tough times for us, we have a difficult program. We were playing in Morocco, we played on Wednesday and we are playing on Saturday again, no excuses.”
