Pelembe faces uncertain future at Wits

Winger Elias Pelembe could be heading for Bidvest Wits’ exit door at the end of this season.

The veteran winger is in the last six months of his contract and could be released as a free agent if the club doesn’t offer him a new deal.

Wits COO Jonathan Schloss says the club has put talks to extend Pelembe’s contract on hold until he returns from his home country.

Schloss revealed coach Gavin Hunt is looking at a few players that he could potentially sign for next season during the lockdown.

Pelembe helped the side win one league title, the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout cup when he joined the Clever Boys from Mamelodi Sundowns.

“There are no issues, we don’t discuss players’ contracts in public. Pelembe still has an option, he is still in Mozambique and we will wait for him to come back,” Schloss was quoted by SunSport.
