Lucas Radebe has a right to run for Safa presidency – Moshikaro
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Sydney Moshikaro was surprised to learn that Bafana Bafana legend Lucas Radebe was ineligible to run for SA Football Association (Safa) presidency.

Radebe, a former Bafana Bafana captain, was informed by Safa that he would have to serve at lower structures of the association first before he could enter into a contest with Danny Jordaan over the Safa presidency.

Moshikaro believes Radebe’s service to the country while playing for Bafana Bafana and putting South Africa on the map during his heyday as the captain of Leeds United should be enough to earn him the right to run the football body.
“I don’t understand why Lucas Radebe can’t be Safa president if he wants to contest the elections, I don’t see an issue because of who he is,” Moshikaro told Phakaaathi.
“He should not have to work in structures of Safa for him to be able to run for presidency, he was the captain of Bafana Bafana for many years. He might still have to learn a thing or two about administration if they have an issue with experience but he has an advantage over others who are running because he represented South Africa on a world stage.
“He was the leader of all the players in South Africa as the Bafana Bafana captain and he understands the challenges faced by both retired players and current especially in the national team setup. The problems were worse during their days and he is best suited to tackle them.
“But again Lucas Radebe’s issue is just another way that we as retired players have been forgotten once we are done. We are not part of the history of the game in the country.”
