Zwane reveals the difference between Chiefs and Sundowns

Zwane says if Chiefs had scored from all the opportunities they have created this season, they would be giving Sundowns a run for their money.

Kaizer Chiefs coach believes his Kaizer Chiefs team would be in the same level as Mamelodi Sundowns had it not been for lack of potency up front.

Zwane says if Chiefs had scored from all the opportunities they have created this season, they would be giving Sundowns a run for their money.

“We do have the quality, and yes, when you are Kaizer Chiefs and sometimes things are not going your way questions will come.

“That is because people expect Chiefs to be up there competing for the No.1 spot,” said Zwane this week.

Chiefs are fourth on the DStv Premiership standings with 37 points from 23 games. That is a huge 22 points behind Sundowns.

“When things are not going your way, people will always doubt the quality but I will say it again…

“When you look at the number of chances we have created this season we are probably the second-best after Mamelodi Sundowns.

“The only difference is that Sundowns took 80% of their chances and we only scored 30%,” explained the Amakhosi mentor.

He also highlighted his team’s defence shortcomings which has on a number of times gifted opponents easy goals.

Chiefs let down by defence

Zwane says that has also contributed to them slacking behind in the league this season.

“And when it comes to defending, we have been very sloppy. When you look at all the goals we have conceded, it’s not that teams punished us.

“They punished us because we gave them the ball to punish us. It’s not that they outplayed or outclassed us.

“Yes, we have had poor performances in terms of games where we were maybe blowing hot and cold on the field, but still we created a number of chances.

“If you look at the games we played, most of them we have dominated and we were just unfortunate not to win,” added the Chiefs mentor.

Zwane will hope that his strikers put their best performance on Saturday evening when they host Stellenbosch FC at FNB Stadium. The game kicks off at 6pm.

Stellies are also on form and will be looking to keep their winning run going against Chiefs.
