Zongo returns to Royal Eagles

Zongo was released from police custody in the Western Cape late last year, after being arrested in connection with a rape case that allegedly took place in February 2013.

A source close to Eagles has revealed to Phakaaathi that the talented midfielder is training with the team.

“As far as I know, he is just training with the team at the moment. But, I’m sure he’ll sign a contract soon, because the coach likes him and he has not been found guilty of any crime,” said the source.

Zongo started his professional career at SuperSport United in 2008.

He has also played for Bidvest Wits, Blackburn Rovers, Chippa United and Platinum Stars.

Despite his talent, Zongo’s career has been dogged by off-the-field issues and as a result, he has so far failed to realise his full potential.
