Stoffels got his first professional goal when he scored in the team’s 6-1 hammering of Milano United.
National First Division (NFD) team Amazulu striker Dylan Stoffels, 18, is looking forward to the second game of the NFD, where he will be focused on his soccer career after completing matric last year at Durban High School.
The Usuthu young striker, who has been playing on the first team since 2015, says he learns from experienced players such as Siyabonga Nomvethe and Mabhuti Khenyeza, who are helping him to improve his game.
”I was in Grade 11 when I got promoted to the first team, and every aspect of my career has been about development – even now. For about three months this season, I wasn’t training, but it’s all behind now,” Stoffels told Amazulu.co.za
“The experienced guys like Mabhuti [Khenyeza] and Bhele [Siyabonga Nomvethe] always advise me on how to be a better striker. My father as well, since he used to play football with Bush Bucks in his days.”
Stoffels, who netted his first professional goal for the KwaZulu-Natal team during the club’s 6-1 hammering of Milano United last year, adds that it was great to score and that there are equal expectations from everyone in the team, as they aim to go up the log table.
“There’s equal expectation from all of us, we all have a job to do and the same goal, which is to contribute towards fighting to get the club up,” he added.
“It was a good feeling to get on to the score sheet after waiting for so long.”
Amazulu are fourth on the NFD table with 23 points, nine points away from tabletoppers Thanda Royal Zulu.
