Xulu and Chiefs set to part ways today

Siyanda Xulu is expected to finalise his exit from Kaizer Chiefs today.

Msizi Gumede, spokesperson at Siyavuma Sports Agency, confirmed to Independent Media they had reached an agreement with Chiefs, and his exit would be concluded today (Monday).

“We have found an amicable solution with Kaizer Chiefs on Siyanda Xulu’s matter. We have reached an agreement with the club, and on Monday, we will conclude everything,” said Gumede.

“I can confirm that Siyanda is leaving Chiefs, and in the next few weeks, he will be playing for the new club.”

Meanwhile, a source told Independent Media that India’s Atletico de Kolkata had tabled an offer for the defender, but added Cape Town City were also interested in the player.

“Xulu has offers locally and abroad. Benni McCarthy wants to sign him at Cape Town City.

“But he is competing with Atletico Madrid’s franchise, Atletico de Kolkata, who campaign in the Indian Super League. They have already tabled an offer for Xulu. At the moment, City are leading the race, and it is likely that he will end up at City,” the source is quoted as saying.

Xulu joined Chiefs two seasons ago, arriving with high expectations after having played in Russia for FC Rostov, but failed to live up to expectations.

He spent most of his time at Chiefs on the bench, and the team decided to release him at the end of last season even though he still had three years left on his contract.
