Wits beat Sundowns 1-0 at a capacity Bidvest Stadium on Monday, with Ben Motshwari heading in the match winner in the 41st minute.
“Wits wanted it more than we did and fought harder, but we wasted chances, especially in the first half,” said Mosimane after the game.
“I cannot criticise my team as they went into this game, having won five league games in a row without conceding a goal.
“A thrilling finish to the title race is looming, and we can regain top spot. The door is still open for us.”
Wits coach Gavin Hunt hailed his team following their win against Sundowns.
“It was a gutsy showing by my boys,” he said.
“Football talent is meaningless without determination and the right attitude.
“We had youth and energy on our side tonight [Monday], and the team fought from the first whistle until the last.”
