Wits in talks to sign Al Ahly striker Gamal

Bidvest Wits are said to be keen on signing Al Ahly striker Amr Gamal as Gavin Hunt looks to strengthen his squad to retain the league title next season.

According to KingFut, Wits have contacted the Egyptian giants to enquire about the possibility of signing the unsettled striker.

The 25-year-old, who scored four goals in 21 appearances across all competitions for the Reds, impressed Hunt when Al Ahly played against Wits in the Caf Champions League in March.

“Al Ahly have the best players ever. Amr Gamal and Ahmed Hegazy were the best,” Hunt was quoted as saying following the sides’ goalless draw in Johannesburg.

Gamal was promoted from Al Ahly youth team in 2013, and he went on to make almost 100 appearances for the club, scoring 27 goals.

He helped the Reds lift three Premier League titles, two Egyptian Super Cups, the 2013 African Champions League, the Caf Confederation Cup in 2014 as well as two Caf Super Cups in 2013 and 2014.
