The Clever Boys are working to strengthen their squad ahead of next season after they were linked to Thamsanqa Sangweni.
Classen has been playing in Germany for Bundesliga club 1860 Munich for the past three seasons. His contract with Munich expires at the end of June, meaning he can join Wits as a free agent.
“He [Claasen] is coming in the morning. Of course [we’re hoping to sign him]. I don’t do all those stuff, but he’s arriving [for training] in the morning,” Hunt confirmed.
“I feel, with [Mogakolodi] Ngele going, we need ‘the pass’, do you understand? You need ‘the pass’, like every team needs that final ball, and I think Claasen can give us that.”
The 27-year-old played for Ajax Cape Town before plying his trade in Netherlands, Belgium, Poland and Germany.
