Claasen joined the Clever Boys as a free agent on Thursday after his contract with TSV 1860 Munich.
Hunt confirmed on Wednesday night that his side were interested in signing the player some time this week after he completes a medical.
The 27-year-old left South Africa and Ajax Cape Town almost 10 years ago when he moved to Ajax Amsterdam.
Following his contract with 1860 Munich coming to an end the Bafana Bafana international was linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The club confirmed the news on their official Twitter account.
