Who is likely to leave Sundowns?

Even among those who are reduced to spectators in the grandstands, the talent is immense.

The challenge with having a large squad with excelling players is that as a coach and technical team at large, you are most likely to have a lot of sulking players.

This is evident at Sundowns, and the situation might get worse for some since Mosimane has reassured the fans there will be new faces at the start of the season, while others’ heads will roll.

Senior Sundowns official Alex Shakoane told Phakaaathi that the team is still on pre-season and that there is no activity in the transfer market yet. Be that as it may, rest assured that Mosimane is already plotting who to lure to his galaxy of stars at Chloorkop, but who is likely to leave?

Among the disgruntled players in the Sundowns camp is former Orlando Pirates anchor-man Andile Jali. The 29-year-old has been at the club for one season now and made an underwhelming 13 appearances across all competitions, and his last game was in March – 14 matches ago.

It is unclear whether Jali is still in Mosimane’s plans but all indications are that he may leave the club in this transfer window.

Another player who has borne the brunt of being sidelined for most of the season, having being frozen out of more than half of the Absa Premiership games, is Jeremey Brockie – the striker only contributed a single goal in Downs’ Absa Premiership title defence. He too may be one to depart in the transfer window.

No one is more familiar with the grandstands than Aubrey Ngoma, who was only given three games the entire season and has only been included once in the match-day squad in the Brazilians’ last 28 games in all competitions.
