We wanted to win against Sundowns – Komphela

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is pleased with his team’s performance against Mamelodi Sundowns, but admits that he would be much happier had the team won the game.

Amakhosi played to a 0-0 draw against the Brazilians at a packed FNB Stadium last Saturday.

“We wanted to win,” said Komphela. “We would have loved to do that. However, it’s more one of regret than disappointment.”

The draw meant that Sundowns keep their five point lead against Chiefs, but Komphela believes that Amakhosi could still catch the Brazilians.

“The game finished nil-nil, so the gap is still five points. Now we go our different ways to try to get the three points.
“The league is a marathon, not a sprint. You have to know how to pace yourselves,” added Komphela.

Chiefs will now face Bidvest Wits at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday at 6pm.
