We stuck to out game plan – Johannes

Cape Town City skipper Robyn Johannes says their game plan worked perfectly after edging Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday night.

Johannes, who was named Man-of-the-Match after the game for his solid performance at the back for City, revealed that they knew they had to stop Hlompho Kekana and Tiyani Mabunda from playing to make Downs less dangerous.

“Playing Sundowns is never easy, they are the best team in the country. But we had a game plan and we stuck to it. We knew if we could stop Kekana and Mabunda from playing then half of the job is done,” Johannes told SuperSport TV after the game.

“You have to be on your toes for 90 minutes against Sundowns. They have an unbelievable midfield, Themba Zwane, Kekana, Mabunda and Oupa Manyisa. They shift teams side to side, but like I said we stuck to our game plan and we were a patient enough and credit to the boys.”
