We knew what to expect from Pirates – Gallants coach

Marumo Gallants coach Sebastian Migne believe his side was unfortunate not to get maximum points in their with Orlando Pirates at the Peter Mokaba Stadium last Tuesday.

Migne says they knew what to expect from the Buccaneers, having studied them in their 2-2 draw with Stellenbosch FC in their previous game.

“I am happy, I am proud of my players. They gave me some good answers. The team spirit and tactically we were good. I think we created some trouble for Pirates. We were unlucky as well because we hit the crossbar,” Migne told SuperSport TV after the game.

“We had a good study of Pirates. We are strong defensively and compact. We took the example of Stellenbosch against them. Now we need to try and develop an attractive football. But we need to keep a good balance.”

With his side having earned their first point this season after losing to neighbours Baroka FC in their first game, Migne was impressed with the players for picking up their socks.

But at the moment, the coach is stressing about the lack of depth in his squad, since the team will be competing in the Car Confederation Cup this season after winning the Nedbank Cup last campaign.

Migne, who hails from France revealed that he is busy trying to negotiate with the club management to bring in quality players.

“It was better than last week. We corrected some things on defensive set-pieces. I have a lot of hope for the future,” he added.

“If you don’t have a full squad in continental competition (Caf Confed Cup), it will not be easy to travel and we will lose some players. Try to help me to convince my board to add some players. Not only players but good players.”
