We can’t afford Khuzwayo – Comitis

City chairman John Comitis has told Phakaaathi that even though the Mother City-based outfit may be keen on having a player like Brilliant Khuzwayo in their ranks, their pockets are not deep enough to accommodate the 28-year-old.

Khuzwayo’s departure from Kaizer Chiefs, where he spent about six years, is imminent as the Durban-born goal minder is set to look for greener pastures elsewhere as he has been an understudy to Amakhosi and Bafana Bafana No.1 goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

“We discovered that his wage package is beyond our capacity and we did not pursue him,” Comitis told Phakaaathi.

Khuzwayo, who was honored with the Chiefs captain’s armband in his last match in a 2-1 win over Ajax Cape Town for the Glamour Boys, has since been mum about his next move.

The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Chiefs’ arch rivals Orlando Pirates where he would be expected to contest the No.1 spot with Wayne Sandilands, Jackson Mabokgwane and Siyabonga Mpontshane.
